Casting for Recovery (CFR), a national non-profit organization established in 1996, provides weekend support and educational retreats specifically tailored for women who have or have had breast cancer. Beginning in 2007, CFR retreats have been held for women of Tennessee. On April 8-10, 2011, the east Tennessee program will host 14 survivors at the Lodge at Buckberry Creek in Gatlinburg, TN, including 6 women from the Upper Cumberland Affiliate area, including a mother- daughter pair. |

The After Breast Cancer (ABC) program is a place where breast cancer patients and survivors can find strength. This is a free 16-week program for both the public and YMCA members that includes a customized workout program by a Pink Ribbon™ Certified Trainer, nutrition counseling, access to a lymphedema specialist, free access to use the YMCA facilities, educational seminars, and encouragement and support and access to one-on-one counseling. |

Upper Cumberland Breast Cancer Resource Project The American Cancer Society’s mission, as a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization, is to eliminate cancer as a major health problem. An important avenue for assisting patients in the Upper Cumberland region of Tennessee is to offer resources during the time of treatment. This project will provide transportation assistance, wigs, and turbans to breast cancer patients. |
