An estimated 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer screening, treatment, and awareness are vital to ensure the health of individuals in our communities.

To best address the enormity and complexity of the issue, the Upper Cumberland Affiliate believes that it is imperative to fund community-based breast health programs that provide culturally appropriate education and outreach, screening, support and treatment.

Not-for-profit organizations that provide breast health and/or breast cancer education, screening, or treatment services are eligible. Click here for more information on how to apply for a grant.

Through events like the Upper Cumberland Race for the Cure®, we have invested more than $350,000in local breast health and breast cancer awareness projects in our 14-county area over the past 4 years. Up to 75 percent of all funds generated by the Upper Cumberland Affiliate stay in our Affiliate Service area, while the remaining income goes to the National Award and Research Grant Program supporting scientific research programs to find cures.

Our National office of Susan G. Komen for the Cure supports research through its peer-reviewed granting program. For more information on that program see, www.komen.org.
