The Upper Cumberland Affiliate’s third annual “Tee It Up for the Cure”® Golf Classic on April 24th, 2009 was once again a wonderful success. The one day event netted over $36,000 to advance the work of the Affiliate to promote education, screening and treatment in the Upper Cumberland.
We hosted a pre-tournament reception for sponsors, players and volunteers on the evening of the 23rd with food provided by O’Charley’s. Bidding on the Silent Auction was opened during the reception. We had exceptional items donated for the auction this year.
It was a gorgeous spring day and the course, clubhouse and golf carts were all beautifully decorated in PINK. Breakfast was donated by several local merchants. Lunch and dinner were provided by Tony Stone and Randy Kiefer of Stone Steel with help from Carwile Mechanical, Lakeland Electric and Mid- State Construction and once again were a great hit with the crowd. Dessert at dinner was provided by Puleo’s. All golfers received either a pair of Foot- Joy golf shoes or a Foot-Joy wind shirt and shoe bag as well as goodie bags. Refreshments for the third year in a row were provided by Budweiser.
The Tournament was played in both morning and afternoon shot gun starts, with afternoon play finishing up shortly before dinner was served. It was a fun filled evening of great food, awards and celebration.
Watch for information about the 2010 Tournament, which will be held next April 29th and 30th.
